The Diversification of the Book Industry
The first in chapter three is women's literary awards. I like to think of these prizes as like the sex and the city of literary activism. The structures themselves don't speak to or uproot or transform the ways in which power and status and hierarchy are a support in the literary prize culture. And they just want to inject more women into the structure, which is why it isn't transformative and why existing power structures aren't disturbed.
