Mayerde's automaton travelled from exhibition to exhibition throughout europe. After a showing in saint petersburg, russia, in 18 33, the automaton disappeared. It is likely that the auto maton was purchased by circus showman p t Barnum. But then it disappears again after he put it in his museum in manhattan. Its fate seemed to be lamented by none other than harry hudeni himself.
