Is Open Source a Good Way to Learn?
The other general advice would be contribute to open source. I think that open source has made me a significantly better programmer being able to look at other people's code and figure out how it works. That is not something that we as an industry have a good framework for teaching yet. So I think that one of the best ways to learn it is to get involved with open source.
