Is It the Sanhedrin Who Convicted and Executed Jesus?
There are at least two locations in the Holy Land, purporting to be the burial site of Jesus. The Sanhedrin had jurisdiction only in the enforcement of Jewish law. Importantly, Jesus was convicted by Roman authorities for crimes against Rome. He was not convicted for a violation of Jewish law and as such there was no prohibition against his burial in a tomb.
