The world is currently 1.1 degree Celsius warmer than it was in the 1800s. The decade between 2011 and 2020 was the warmest ever decade recorded. Despite nations promising net-zero carbon emissions, we are looking at a 2.8 degree Celsius temperature rise by the end of this century. This could well mean more heat waves, unpredictable rainfall patterns and other extreme climate events that would make our lives harder.
