The Fed pursuing quantitative easing for so long to try and push up a wealth effect is has a lot to do with seeing this, you know, pension crisis unfolding. It could be that the Fed was trying toDo their part in preventing a pension crisis. Janet Yellen has talked about negative interest rates. And said that she would be fully on board if the circumstances demanded. So no, look, I can't buy that the Fed is all of a sudden going to be concerned about pensions given the low interest rate environment which fed the problem to begin with.
