i am like you. I i get a lot of books sent to me, which when i was younger wouldhave been the most exciting thing i could possibly imagine. But it is fun still when people send em to me. And i look at almost every one and, um, take it. Do you turn to a certain page before you make a decision? No, i just start at the beginning and see if it grabs me. If the author can't grab you fairly quickly, it may, in fact, not be a good book. Now, older books are quite different. They were not written to grab people up front.
