The Prosperous Gift of Britain

Prieta: Insurgent Empire lays out a framework of a sort of a prosperous gift. The idea that civilization, that freedom and democracy was granted to its current slash former colonies by Britain as a sort of update on that old myth of the civilizing mission. Prieta: When colonies eventually gained independence and liberation, that was then presented within the imperials story as the logical outcome of imperial rules.
