Lula's Victory Is a Great Environmental Victory

Lula has promised zero deforestation, but it's unclear how that would be done. Bolsonaro of course has gutted the agencies responsible for environmental enforcement. I'm not optimistic about his capacity to substantially roll back the damage being done to the Amazon. But if he sort of stands up against some ecologically destructive policies, that will strengthen the international alliances to deal with climate change.
