How Steroid Hormones Work
Unlike paracryde signaling, which is local and therefore fairly well targeted to nearby cells, hormones are not targeted. So once they enter the bloodstream, they're going to be transported across the entire body. However, only the cells with the right receptors will respond to those hormones. This is kind of like the way that radio signals work - it's on the receiver end that the system is targeted.
