The Optical Benefits of Polarised Sunglasses
Polarised lenses are designed to cut out horizontal reflections from the sun. But they don't affect UV protection, it's just a kind of like the colour. With dark tint in there, less light gets through to pupil and dilates eyes. This means more of the UV is then getting through to retina and cornea. Catherine tells us why that is particularly worrying. She says: 'People think they're doing the right thing for their eyes... but actually they're exposing themselves'
