Therapy With DIS Patients - How to Strengthen Integrative Capabilities
The self-conception of someone with DIS consists specifically in the fact that it is dissociated. Dissociation is a means of survival, and this is why it is often vehemently maintained. Therapists who are not familiar with the defence mechanisms and structures of DIS can be rather confused at first - or even believe the patient. One goal of therapy with DIS patients is strengthening the person's integrative capacities. For this, there are specific therapeutic approaches, such as ego state therapy. This podcast was written and produced by Cecilia Lutz and Jakob Miller. It has been translated by Suleiman Lawrence and read by Rebecca Dyson Smith.
