The Rise and Fall of Google's Chromecast Audio
Chromecast audio was still like 35 bucks, right? Or was it 50 for the audio? It might have been 50, but it wasn't more than 50. I think Google saw that as long as it continued to support the ability to make dumb speakers smart, it would be its own roadblock to the adoption of standalone smart speakers with cast support. But at its core, I just don't think Google saw the Chromecast audio as anything but a niche device for people like us and Jerry Hildenbrand,.
