I'm hardly the only person to suggest that intense high stakes assessments can be bad for education. And I'm also not saying that we need to eliminate quizzes and tests and exams because there are all different sorts of functions that those can serve. It's true that we have these high pressure testing situations in which cheating becomes more advantageous as it were. But I don't think we fixed the problem by taking those out because there's so many other occasions to cheat.
Is there such a thing as a victimless crime? In an unfair system, is dishonesty okay? And are adolescent vandals out of ideas?
