The Return of Something Like Finitude to the American Imagination
i came of age without any memory of the cold war, and my first political memory was maybe bill clinton getting elected. And so part of what i've found very striking in the past several weeks is the return of something like finitude to the kind of american imagination of the world. In almost any case, we're back in a world that does start to look much more multi polar. We actually don't have any idea how the future of this is going to go,. but there's a sense that, a, there's a return of something besides just the uni polar moment. I think at that's actually really interesting and really important to be reflecting on.
