The Cost of Grassroots Music Venues Is Huge
The government found £5 million for grassroots music venues. The development of new artists is costing grassroots venues £79 million a year. We invest £212 million a year in putting on new music and we only make £139 million back from the sale of tickets. You should be able to walk down the road and see a new original band virtually everywhere in this country, every town and city should have some sort of small space that inspires young people to want to make this sound.
