The History of the Spanish
There was a warning given to the people of cuba about the spaniards. Why didn't they heed his words? That's a really good question, and it goes to, i think, a historical generalization. Because cuba is an island, their people are relatively peaceful. They probably thought he had to be exaggerating. No group of human beings could come into try kill all the men, rape and enslave the women and the children. I think it's just another example of the mistake of believing the best when you're being warned about a coming danger.
