The Puritans of Salem

The puritans of salem are not weird aberrations. They are not the exception, rather than the rule. Their violent partisanship, their politics is our politics, but with the garments changed to suit the flavor of the age. I find it curious to contemplate the fact that satan literally means accuser in salem,. as in mc carthy era america, the devil was weaponized. You would use accusation of evil as a weapon. And yet the accusation itself is the real evil. Finger pointing is a sick kind of repression and self hatred. It's one definitely not confined only to salem in 16 92.
