How Did Enslaved People Use the Language of Christianity?

How did enslaved people who converted to Christianity feel about the relationship between their Christian identity and their status as enslaved people? We don't have many documents written firsthand by enslaved people, though we do have some. I think there was a little bit of signifying going on, this idea of using the language of Christianity in order to protest the continued enslavement. But you do see people like preaching Dick and other people using their skills using that ability in order to get to freedom.
