The FLDS is a direct result of Joseph Smith's proclamation that he himself was a prophet of God and the sole conduit of God's Word. The last hundred years or so have been filled with tiny prophets following in Joseph Smith's footsteps. And as often happens, these new cults within a cult resulted in murder, sexual abuse or both.
