Acetyl Coa and Melatonin

Steroid with steroid coa is needed to hold mitochondria together. If you impair the steroidalation of mitochondrial proteins, the mitochondria fall apart. There's evidence that this is involved in Parkinson's disease. Acetyl coa modifies serotonin by converting it into an acetyl serotonin. This is the precursor to melatonin. Perhaps this explains the insomnia seen in pentathenic acid deficiency.
