There are a number of companies that have been recently making more noise about how they feel like the cloud is an unnecessary and bloated expense. A company like 37 signals would absolutely run both architectures in parallel for a while if they were, for example, to try this. If they were to take the next step from going from on-prem servers to embracing the full peer-to-peer nature, maybe not removing all of their servers, but drastically reducing them.
