The average person going to church or synagogue is not going there to hear some arguments for the fin tuning or the first cause. They're going there for the comradery and the social aspects, the food, free parking onow te. There's a literary or mythic truth in the story about human nature, about human culture, human history. And this is a common theme throughout history, is that oppressed peoples tend to have mythic stories about a saviour coming.
