New York City's Green Building Strategy
New York City has been steadily trying to rein in omissions from buildings since michael bloomberg's second term in office. The city adopted a package of legislation known as the greater greener buildings code. It required owners to annually report how much ergy they used per square foot, compared to similar properties. They also adopted a law as part of this package that required owners to periodically conduct energy audits and identify opportunities for low cost retropits. But i think as time went on, especially as it became evident that the federal government wasn't really going to tackle a missions up stream through the energy sector, there started to be a movement growing for the city to take stricter, more top down
