Mustard is thought to have originated from the word musto or grape musts, which is a young, unfermented wine mixed with ground mustard seeds by French monks. Mustard was actually creating a pretty sizable income stream for these monasteries. Have you ever had muscadine wine? It's very big in parts of Appalachia. Spicy grape was my favorite soda flavor.
