The Death of Ferdinand Philippe
Ferdinand Philippe was the first born son and heir to the French throne. He died in 1842 when a light carriage he was riding spun out of control, pitched him out onto the street, and fractured his skull. Historians point to Ferdinand Philippe's death as a crucial turning point in the life of the aging Louis Philippe.
