How to Use Decodable Texts to Support Students in Upper Elementary
A decodable text is a text in which 70 to 80% of the words are decodable. Students should already have been explicitly taught and have had practice with those phonics concepts. It can be difficult to find decodable texts that are appropriate for upper elementary, but they exist. A really good series is the two can series from Hagerty.
