The Pressure to Get Parliament Back
In August there always seems to be a national security or foreign policy crisis that's driving it. Some are about MPs just being there, talking about what the issue is going on and holding the government to account. But when buildings are going up in flames and there's extensive rioting taking place, a government wants the reassurance of Parliament's support. And they brought the policy to an end with quite reputational consequences for the United Kingdom which are still echoing today.
