The Global Problem of Hate Speech
The Irish legislation is quite shocking in how frankly totalitarian it is. It allows police to go into people's homes unannounced to look for so-called hateful material on their computers and phones. Some of the censorship demands have been seem strategic, such as trying to stop vaccine hesitancy. Other kinds of censorship demands we've seen have been by politicians who are upset that they're being criticized in social media.
