The Benefits of Religion Even in the Absence of God

In Alexander's estimation, our best chance at creating this God is to build a friendly, super-intelligent AI. This gives us a God which will not only allow us to engage in perfect coordination, but endow us with infinite resources. Those who are religious have faith that such a God already exists. Is one strategy really that superior to the other? And is there any reason why you wouldn't hope for both?
