Kant believed in the retributive punishment, which is to day regarded as a retrograde point of view. And perhaps mayin be it because he thought that a man would prefer to go to prison to going to a hospital. Because he thought that if a man did something and he was blamed for it,. severely blamed for it, or even punished for it, because he might have avoided it, this, in some sense, presupposed that he was a human being with a power of choice - even though he may have chosen what was evil.
