Jay Parini: I was there when you did this whole experiment of living semi-homeless or homeless while still working a professional job. The idea came to me a couple of years before that when I was living and working in California. He says it was like a 45 minute commute from the National Forest in the mountains down into the city out near Los Angeles. "I don't really need to have a house. I can just kind of camp out permanently," he says.
