I think things are pendulistic, but this is a theory that you guys can tell me if it seems wrong. One idea I entertain about why neoliberalism in the definition we're using of it as a kind of form of public reason has become so powerful is that there used to be countervailing ideological forces that have fallen. There's a very practical question for whether or not markets can be contained at the nation-state level. Would a Warren presidency, if it were not fully affirmed by two other branches of government, be able to do anything?
