Cortez's Assassination of the Aztecs
Tes sailed further up the coast of mexico and finally settled on a landing point to the north. He wasted no time in raiding a number of native villages for food and supplies, and stole any gold he came across. Cortez knew that if he could go over the governor's head and get the blessing of the king of spain himself, then his exped ton would be legitimate. But he would have to tread a narrow legal tight rope to give himself some breathing room.
