The movie never refers to the Confederacy. The movie says the south, which can stand for honor and gentility. There's a sort of like punching up versus punching down thing of, well, you can poke that balloon. And this movie is just like, we're not even going to talk about what they actually are or what they're standing for. But does this not feel like an echo of this thing we're going through right now?
