I was actually drawn to Gerard because he is mostly a literary critic. And I am very interested in religion and literature. He figured out that there's something at the core of humanity called mimesis. When you want what other people have, then you want to become them - which starts conflict between individuals. There has to be something that kind of opens the valve and releases that pressure or else like will always be in violence,.
