Introduction
The evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk in 1940 is one of the most iconic moments of the Second World War. We turn the tables to look at the fighting from the German perspective. Robert Kershaw has a new book, Dunkirken 1940, the German view of Dunkirk. The nine days of the Dunkirk evacuation only includes one day of the panzer Hautor. So you can see the way this is going. And then when the Allies surrender rather than lose the plot, which was not a surprise, they were anticipating it but there was no plan.
