How Did You Become a Theologian and Discover Aquinas?
How did you perhaps as a Protestant begin to learn of Thomas Aquinas and how has he been a blessing to you as a theologian? You know, that's a great question. I actually got way into Aquinas while I was at Calvin Seminary working on a big paper on the role of the law in the Christian life. And then when I later moved down to Notre Dame for my doctoral work, I ran into another scholar Randy Smith who had done his dissertation on Aquinas' treatment of the old law. He wasn't always right, but sometimes he was prescient and he anticipated things that we later discovered by archaeology.
