Understanding the Source of Something Doesn't Mean That You Enable Its Consequences

Knowing the traumatic experiences that they had as children, how do we still hold people accountable in those situations? Well, look, if a rabid dog, or not a rabid, but an aggressive dog that was badly treated as a pup, was attacking one of my children, I'd be trying to take a stick and beat him off. So knowing the source of something doesn't mean that you enable its consequences. But it does mean that on a human level, you might be a bit more temperable about judging the very first.
