Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson

The most famous story about joe bell, which so impressed conan doyle, and i'm quoting here. A stranger is brought into his outpatient clinic to be treated for elephantiasis. After studying him for a moment, doctor bell spoke, well, my man, you've served in the army? Ay sir. And like true legends, this story has retold in many different and much bodier iterations. One doctor who trained in the 19 seventies at the university of edinburgh recounts the same story with the conclusion that everyone in the army has syphilis. So the narrator of the vast majority of the sherlock holmes stories is doctor watson, who is a surgeon himself.
