The Power of Mask Magic
There's great sectioning condensed chaos by Phil Hein on masks. He discusses them as a metaphor when taking some kind of psychological deconditioning or belief shifting. Many shamanistic cultures view a mask as having a personality of its own. When we put that mask on, our personalities merge with it or were overwhelmed by the personality of the mask itself. Sort of like how on Halloween we dress up in different ways.
