Eleanor and Raymond's Political Plotting
None of the contemporary writers, namely john of salisbury and william of tyre, ever explicitly accused eleanor of adultery or incest. It seems just as likely that he could have been referring to eleanor and raymond's political plotting as much as any sexual relationship. You see, raymond had wanted the second crusade to be well more of a military campaign. Hehad hoped that the crusaders might help him take back some lost territory and even expand his kingdom.
