Basnian Moslems and the Ottoman Empire

In 17 74, russia defeated the ottoman empire after a six year war. This further weakened ottoman control in the balkans and increased nationalistic tendencies. Great britain preferred to maintain the status quo and try to prop up the ottomon empire in order to block russia. An example of this can be seen in the congress of berlin. Britain, austria and france called for a meeting of the european powers in berlin in the summer of 18 78. The primary goal of the congress was to preserve the balance of power among the europeAN nations, while also maintaining some measure of peace.
