And one way to think about that, without talking yet about what comes next, is to reflect on the timing of all this. We are deeply divided, obsessed with our own domestic political divisions, less and less willing to support our non treaty allies in the world. If those interpretations of the world are correct, and maybe they are, it's a very different order.
