The Importance of Aristotle
Locke's main divergences from Aristotle were probably not obvious to the average educated reader and this is a good thing. He combined elements of Aristotle with other elements drawn from Descartes and yet others drawn from the nominal. Locke provided an eloquent defense of a rough-hewn empiricist which was effective until a failure to think things through radically became all too painfully apt to continue.
