Eco-Theology in a Non-Ecological Way?
I've thought about that a lot. What would American eco-theology look like? Would almost by necessity be very decentralized. If you go back to John Evelyn and those writers on forestry in the early years, they do espouse a sort of eco-the theology. It's not just about state power. All of their work is infused as all of the thinkers of that time were with Christian imagery and theology in a non-ecological sense. Why specifically does this end up taking on this spiritual angle, this theological angle? I don't know the answer to that. But at the same time, it feels like you could just totally take a materialist approach to this.
