I think people are not putting it in perspective most of the time. I've been travelling for 25 years now, and i think the worst that i've ever had happened was a camera stolen out of my back pack. You might be more likely to get robbed at three a m if you're walking around o some foreign city. But in general, the hot spots are pretty well known. The places to stay away from are pretty wellknown, just as are in your own city. So it's not that hard to stay out of trouble.
