The Universal Translator in Star Trek

I was going to add there that what you know also depends on the how long the series or the film franchise has been running. We as audience members will accept a lot of really weird silly cool stuff. I kind of think it's like it drives some things to ridiculous ends and they're sort of fun anthropological moments. It lets us hear each other in in our own languages, which is needed for the narrative. To try and work that out, diegetically like to make it make sense in the universe stretches your brain beyond all belief.
