About 40% of the earth is considered to be dry lands, and about 12 % of that is covered with fire crust. Fire crusts do several things for ene. They act like a skin thato, keeps the soil together and in; they also orb water and help retain what water there is in these dry places. Anothe thing that they do is liken and a small extent, the blue green alga will fix nitrogen. That means convert nitrogen from the air into a form thats like fertilizer that the plants and other organisms can make use of to grow.
