In the case of full relative motions, we would have a tibia that would be moving from a relative external rotation into rotation. The bias in the descent of a pistol squat reduces the contribution of Vastis medialis in a lot of people because I have to bend against the external rotation mechanics. That's not always a good place to be because force production without internal rotation tends to be detrimental for knee injury.
